DREAM

DREAM stands for Developing Real Enterprise through Asset Mapping.

 

This online tool came about through the frustration of constantly hearing how communities seemed to be required to present themselves as ever more ‘disadvantaged’ to compete for shrinking resources.

 

Based on an evolving model from the Eastern Seaboard of Canada with its roots in work developed at the Small Business Centre in Durham, this tool seeks to capture the assets of a community (physical, geographical, sectoral or otherwise) and generate potential connections within the community. In a very real sense to identify and make live the ‘social capital’ existing in tacit form.

 

The tool exists in a variety of guises and has been used to build job opportunities, business teams, local sports teams and more recently, as part of our Newcastle Enterprise Package.
