Responsible Business Event Update
News - Responsible Business Update
Successful businesses are responsible businesses – that was the message at our Responsible Business Event at Newcastle City Library on 17th March.
Over 80 people gathered to exchange ideas, make connections and listen to a range of speakers sharing their experience of responsible business.
One artistic participant, Nick Payne, captured the event visually by creating the fabulous mural above based on the speakers’ words and themes.
Lucy Armstrong, company director and chair of the CBI’s SME (Small and Medium Enterprise) Council, explained how her experience as a board member in the criminal justice and social care sectors, and as deputy chair of Northumbria University, has made her a better businesswoman.
Di Gates from Stick Theory talked about the importance of having a purpose bigger than your product, and Guy Bashford from Redtree Environmental outlined how going green benefits the bottom line.
DEAL Group director Karen Langdon said: “The speakers talked about ways of being positive in the face of bad news. They captured the spirit of the many fantastic people in Newcastle running great businesses, collaborating with others and really making a difference.”
The event was hosted in partnership with Newcastle Business Forums and DEAL Group and delivered as part of the Newcastle Enterprise Package with Newcastle City Council.
